We believe in the power of women and we believe that a woman’s success is the success of other women. The #ProudToBeAWoman Talk, held every month at Josefinas’ NYC flagship, has the mission to share the stories of inspiring women with the dream of empowering others.

The speaker of the October #ProudToBeAWoman Talk (the first of many) was Joana Vicente, a Portuguese woman, Executive Director of the Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP) since December 2010 and founder of Made in New York Media Center. In partnership with the city of New York, the Made in NY project is a new kind of co-working space and exhibition venue designed to connect the next generation of artists, innovators and entrepreneurs through education, events and industry resources.
Her films have received numerous awards incluing top Jury Prize at the Sundance Film festival for Three Seasons and Welcome the dollhouse, and a nomination for an academy award for the documentary Enron the Smartest Guys in the Room.

As Executive Director of IFP, Joana Vicente shared her challenging, inspiring and winning fundraising project, how she works with tight deadlines and mostly how she inspires her incredible team towards success.
